About The Kind Host

The Kind Host is for people who’ve reached the life stage where they “should” be hosting (the first dinner parties, the first home, the first holidays as the host) but were never actually taught how.

Most hosting content makes you feel one of two things: inadequate (the magazine-shoot tablescapes that took a stylist eight hours), or confused (the Pinterest infographic that doesn’t actually tell you anything). We aim for a third feeling: capable. Like the friend who’s done it 50 times is sitting next to you, walking through the timeline.

What “kind” means here

  • Kind to the reader. No assumed prior knowledge. No insider jokes. No “you’ll wow your guests.”
  • Kind to imperfection. Your tablescape doesn’t need to be magazine-shot. Your guests notice 5% of what you stress about.
  • Kind to budgets. Every gear recommendation comes in tiers (the $30 option, the $80 option, and the splurge) so you don’t get gaslit into thinking you need a $400 corkscrew.
  • Kind to time. Real timelines. We’ll never tell you to do 47 things the morning of.

What we cover

Five categories, all built around the same idea: the practical infrastructure of having people over.

  • Hosting How-To. Timelines, etiquette, planning checklists.
  • Tablescapes. The place settings and centerpieces, minus the styling stress.
  • Glassware. What’s actually worth buying.
  • Home Bar. Bar carts, cocktails, mocktails, the gear that earns its space.
  • Holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE, Friendsgiving, and the rest.

How we make money

Display ads (eventually) and affiliate links. We disclose affiliate links at the top of any article that contains them. We only recommend products we’ve used or thoroughly tested. See the affiliate disclosure for the full rundown.

We don’t recommend something just because it pays the highest commission. That’s a fast way to lose your trust, and there’s no point running a hosting site if readers don’t trust the recommendations.
