Affiliate Disclosure

The Kind Host does not currently have any affiliate partnerships, and our articles do not contain affiliate links today. We are in the process of joining affiliate programs in the home, kitchen, and entertaining categories. When that changes, this page and the affected articles will say so clearly, before you click anything.

When we do add affiliate links, here is how they will work. If you click a link to a product and buy it, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. It does not change the price you pay. The commission comes out of the retailer’s marketing budget, not your pocket.

How we decide what to recommend

Affiliate revenue is one way this site will stay free to read. But the recommendation logic is the same whether a product has an affiliate link or not:

  1. We’ve used the product ourselves, or thoroughly researched it against alternatives.
  2. We’d recommend it to a friend (the actual gut-check we use).
  3. The product fits a real use case we describe, not “the best ever,” but “the best one if you only host four people a few times a year.”

If a product is great but doesn’t have an affiliate program, we still link to it. If a product has a great commission but isn’t worth recommending, we don’t.

Disclosure in articles

Once we have affiliate links, every article that contains them will show a disclosure banner at the top. We don’t bury disclosures in footers or fine print, that’s the FTC’s expectation and ours.
